Introduction
Recent surveys tell us that the most successful boards are the most diverse in terms of gender, background and experience. Finding and appointing new and diverse talent is now a major issue for all Boards. The “War for Talent” has moved to the Non-executive Director field.
Everyone is aware of the increased pressure on Boards to find and appoint female Non-executive Directors since the publication of Lord Davies report last year, as well as a limited talent pool from which to recruit them.
Bird & Co Boardrooms has recently launched a new offer which addresses these issues by identifying and developing new talent beyond the ‘usual suspects’ by combining our knowledge of both search and mentoring.
Kathleen O’Donovan and Isabel Bird have brought together over 30 years experience of working with women and with Boards to develop a unique two-pronged approach:
Board Search
-
We begin early in the succession planning process; analyzing the current Board composition and working with Board members to identify the type of potential new NED required to complement the existing skills base.
Board Mentoring
- We then identify new talent to meet these needs and put the successful candidate through a bespoke mentoring programme to ensure they are fully equipped for their new role.
